At the beginning of this season’s The Bachelor Australia, Sogand Mohtat had an immediate connection with Matt Agnew. After their first date, you would be forgiven for thinking she would have easily been in the top 5. But between all the drama, their relationship quickly fizzled and last night Matt sent Sogand home.
When Sogand spoke to 10 daily, she admitted she got too caught up in all the conflict with fellow contestant Abbie Chatfield that she lost sight of why she was really there.
“It was hard for me to sit quietly when I could see her pretending to be one thing in front of Matt, and different when the cameras weren’t rolling,” she said.
“I wanted [Matt] to know who was there for the right reasons, and for that reason, I got involved with Abbie too much.”
Sogand’s other regret was wishing she hadn’t played it so cool.
“If I could go back I would focus on my connection with Matt, be a bit more forward and let him know how I feel rather than let him try and work it out,” she revealed.
“I wanted to play it fair, I wanted him to have time with every single girl and — that’s wrong to think. We don’t have the luxury of time. I wasn’t going to fake it to pretend that I’m definitely the right girl for him, I wanted him to see who is the right girl and spend time with everyone and pick the right person.”
In her farewell Instagram post, she focused on the positives to come out of her time in the mansion, namely the great friendships she’s made with the other contestants and how much she really wants to fall in love… could she be vying for the role of The Bachelorette Australia?!
“Although our stars didn’t align, I feel extremely blessed to have been on this incredible journey. I went on the bachelor for one reason & one reason only. And that was to find love. Now I may not have found love, but I walked away with some amazing friendships #friendchelor ?♀️?♀️ I have to say though, I never knew how much I wanted to fall in love until this day. Thank you @thebachelorau ???Also, thank you so much to everyone who have shown me love, your support hasn’t gone unnoticed ?”
