A UK bride discovered a message from her late mother on the soles of her wedding shoes, and the story has gone viral.
The woman, only identified as Emma, had ordered and paid a deposit on a pair of customised heels from online retailer Lace and Love several months prior to her wedding. When she received the shoes earlier this month, Emma was stunned to learn her mother – who was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer in 2016 – had paid for them behind her back. When she received the shoes, there was another beautiful surprise waiting for her.
“[Emma’s mum] also sent me a message to include on the soles, which I kept secret throughout the whole process along with the fact her mum had purchased them for her,” Lace and Love’s designer Amanda Weise wrote.
The inscription reads: “Wanted you to have a gift from me on your wedding day. Your wedding shoes are my gift to you. Hope you have a magical day. Lots and lots of love and big hugs, MUM xxxx.”

Emma’s mother’s cancer diagnosis came just one month after she got engaged in 2016.
Speaking to the BBC after the story of her shoes went viral, Emma said her mum’s message had left her in “absolute shock”.
“I started to cry…I was just absolutely in bits. I couldn’t breathe, I couldn’t talk,” she recalled.
Sharing a photo of the bespoke blush pink and gold shoes on Facebook, Weise reflected on how special it had been to create them. “What a lovely thing for this mum to do and I know these shoes will carry an even more special meaning,” she wrote. “Her mum will be right with her on her wedding day.”
Such a beautiful story.
