Woman Sharing Her Engagement News With Grandfather Through Window Goes Viral

???

Visitor restrictions at healthcare facilities across the US are in place to spot the spread of COVID-19 and keep the elderly, who are more vulnerable, safe. As a result, a photo of a woman who had to share the news of her engagement with her grandfather through a window at his aged care facility has gone viral online.

Premier Living and Rehab Center in Lake Waccamaw shared a series of photos of Carly Boyd, who got engaged over the weekend, sharing the news with her grandfather through the glass window of his room. The facility’s administrator, Gennie Parnell, shared the images online – and they quickly went viral.

“Even though visitation is restricted at this time, staff suggested an alternative,” the post read. “Here, a resident’s granddaughter tells her grandfather that she’s engaged! Emotional and memorable, for sure!! Thank you for allowing us to capture this special moment!!

“I really wanted to be able to tell my grandfather because he has dementia and there’s no phone in there that he has access to,” Boyd told CNN“I just really wanted to make an effort to tell him.”

“It was very special,” she added. “I just put my hand on the window, and he put his there too. I just told him I love him, and he said, ‘I love you, too, and I hope to see you soon,’ like really see you.”
