Sean P Diddy Combs’s day in court has come. The federal trial, which will see the rapper face charges of sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution (all of which he has denied) has begun in New York with jury selection.
While opening statements and testimonies are yet to be heard – and aren’t expected until May 12th – the jury selection process has already given insight into what may unfold on the stand, namely which celebrities might be called into the case.
As part of this initial process 150 potential jurors were given a questionnaire to assess their knowledge of Combs, their history with sexual assault, law enforcement and whether they recognised anyone on a list of 190 names.
It’s this list that has given the insight into which celebrities may be referenced or mentioned during the trial and includes Michael B. Jordan, Kanye West, Mike Myers, Kid Cudi and Destiny’s Child member, Michelle Williams.
So why have these high profile names been included in court documents? We unpack below.
Michael B Jordan & P Diddy: Why Have The Two Been Linked?
Context wasn’t given as to why any of the celebrity names were listed in documents to the potential jurors, including that of Sinners star Michael B. Jordan. However, we can assume that Jordan’s name has been raised in relation to P Diddy’s ex, Cassie Ventura.
Jordan was romantically linked to Ventura, who is expected to testify in the trial, briefly in 2015.
According to People, we shouldn’t expect to see the actor take the stand. “[Jordan] will not be a witness in the trial,” a source told the outlet.
Why Is Kid Cudi Mentioned In The P Diddy Trial?
Kid Cudi has also been romantically linked to P Diddy’s ex, Cassie Ventura. Ventura previously revealed she dated Cudi in 2011 during a rough patch in her relationship with Combs, whom she dated from 2007 to 2018.
Prosecutors are also alleging that Kid Cudi was the target of an attack led by Combs, after Ventura claimed via a legal memo that the rapper had said he was “going to blow up Kid Cudi’s car.” Around this time, Cudi’s car did in fact explode in his driveway.
Representatives for Kid Cudi confirmed Ventura’s account to the New York Times.

Exactly how Destiny’s Child member Michelle Williams has been previously link to P Diddy is unclear and as is the reasoning for her inclusion in the jury’s list. We may find out more as the trial unfolds.
