Virgin River is that feel good, just-enough-drama, soothing after-work watch that we can’t get enough of on Netflix.

The series has been filming season five over the last few months, and we have good news about the upcoming season: the release date has been announced.

Virgin River season five will premiere on September 7, 2023. It’s also been confirmed that there will be 12 episodes in the season, although it’s yet to be seen if Netflix will drop the whole thing at once or in two batches of six, as they are wont to do these days.

We suppose this news calls for a beer down at our local ‘Jack’s Diner’ A.K.A the watering hole pub everyone in your area attends.

While announcing the release date for season five, showrunners also confirmed that yes, indeed, we will be getting another season of Jack and Mel’s love story, with a season six of the show confirmed.

It’s great news for Virgin River fans who may have been concerned about the fate of the sixth season. This is because Virgin River season five has a brand-new showrunner, in the form of Patrick Sean Smith, creator of Greek. He is taking over from the first showrunner, Sue Tenney.

Not to get too ahead of ourselves, we are eagerly awaiting season five, which will see the resolution of the cliff-hangers we were left on in season four.

We’re hoping (*spoiler alert for season four if you haven’t already tuned in) to see Mel and Jack walk down the aisle together now that they’re officially engaged (queue screaming). We’re also super keen to see Jack become a father to Mel’s child, after his parentage of the little one was confirmed in season four.

At the same time, after it was revealed that Charmaine’s twins are not Jack’s biological children, we are very interested to see whose they really are. We can only guess there is a huge amount of tea there.

Meanwhile, we’re keen to see Brie and Brady’s relationship flourish as she tries to get out from under the thumb of her abusive ex and he (hopefully) continues on his big-time redemption arc.

Let’s just say that between now and September, you’ll find us rewatching old episodes of this comfort show, anticipating what’s to come.
