With Game of Thrones drawing to a close for its second to last season, different fan theories are emerging pretty much every single day.
Are Jon and Dany going to get it on? Will The Hound and his brother, The Mountain, have an epic fight scene? Is this character actually Cersei’s son? Is a Stark sister going to die? Is Bran the Night King?
Now we have another theory, but this time it comes straight from Ned Stark’s mouth.
Remember back before season seven started and Game of Thrones released this trailer?
In the clip, Sansa can be heard saying: “The lone wolf dies, but the pack survives.”
Obviously, it freaked fans out with many thinking it meant a Stark would die this season. AKA next episode, AKA Monday.
But Digital Spy is now floating another theory, taking us all the way back to season one when Ned Stark was schooling his youngest daughter, Arya.
Ned says to Arya: “Let me tell you something about wolves, child. When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies, but the pack survives. Summer is the time for squabbles. In winter, we must protect one another, keep each other warm, share our strengths.”
Sound familiar?
Sure, it’s Sansa in the trailer voiceover, not Arya, but of course, Ned is going to give words of wisdom to both his daughters.
In Ned’s version, he’s telling Arya that the Starks need to stick together, rather than that there’s death around the corner for one of them.
So, what the publication is suggesting is that while the finale’s producer is trying to hint at either Arya or Sansa dying next episode, that doesn’t happen at all. Rather, Littlefinger finally gets what’s coming to him.
Bran, Arya and Sansa all know how much of an evil creep Littlefinger is, so why has he been hanging around Winterfell for so long without losing his head?
We’d say Arya has one of her face tricks up her sleeve and that next week’s episode is going to be really. damn. good.
