Yesterday, celebrities flooded our Instagram feeds with messages reminding our dear American friends to go out and vote, but one post was both special and exciting to see: Demi Lovato posting about voting.
Lovato hasn’t been active on her Instagram since August when she shared a message thanking fans for their support following her hospitalisation, while her mother in the meantime has been reassuring fans that the singer has been doing well in recovery.
However, over the weekend People magazine reported that the Sorry not Sorry singer had left rehab after spending three months in treatment to return to her home in Los Angeles, where she wasted no time using her voice to get political.
The Instagram post is a photo of herself filling out her ballot, the caption read, “I am so grateful to be home in time to vote! One vote can make a difference, so make sure your voice is heard!? ?? now go out and #VOTE!!!!”
Although us Australian’s might be somewhat disassociated from American politics, the midterm elections are incredibly important as the results could affect Trump’s ability to govern.
The elections determine the make-up of Congress two chambers, and many people believe this election could be the determining factor for the fate of Roe v. Wade and American women’s rights to abortion, along with other state policies the Supreme Court has been wanting to undercut.
Keep being a role model in more ways than one, Demi.
