A UK woman made the shocking discovery that she had been raped—repeatedly—by her husband while she was sleeping.
The 30-year-old man had recorded the abuse on his mobile phone, The Sun reports.
The woman only learnt about the distressing footage when she was looking at the app Video Locker on her husband’s phone.
In a Newcastle Crown Court, the man was sentenced to nine years in jail.
He had pleaded guilty to three counts of rape, one count of assault by penetration, one count of attempted rape and one of sexual assault.
The court was told that the abuse begun in September last year.
His name has not been disclosed to protect the identity of the wife and his children, news.com.au reports.
The woman released a statement explaining she was deeply shocked and traumatised by her husband’s actions.
“In March 2017, I discovered my husband had been sexually abusing me,” she said.
“I never thought he would be capable of doing what he did.
“He has completely fooled me. I never want to see him again.”
