Ivanka Trump recently announced that she would be joining the White House staff as an unpaid employee. Previously she was advising President Donald Trump in a personal capacity, so now she will be subject to the same regulations as other White House employees.
Now, the White House has released financial disclosures for various senior employees, including Ivanka Trump and husband Jared Kushner, and we now understand why Ivanka Trump is able to take an unpaid position.

According to the documents, which were reported by The New York Times, Ivanka and Jared have assets worth as much as $740m (USD).
From Ivanka Trump’s stake in the Trump International Hotel alone, she earned between $1 million and $5 million USD in the period between January 2016 and March 2017.
Jared Kushner reported that his and Ivanka’s combined income from last year was around $195 million.
The President’s daughter and son-in-law are among the highest earners on the White House executive list.

Gary Cohn, the director of the National Economic Council, comes in close with assets worth $252 million to $611 million. He was previously a Goldman Sachs executive, and is now a central adviser to President Trump.
Donald Trump is not legally required to divulge his financial assets until January next year.
