It’s the wildly successful Netflix drama that aims to lift the lid on what’s really gone on beyond the gates of Buckingham Palace, so one would assume the royal family IRL wouldn’t deign to watch The Crown.
But in a new interview, Princess Eugenie, Queen Elizabeth’s 27-year-old granddaughter, reveals her love of the series.
“It is filmed beautifully,” the Princess told Hello! “The music is wonderful, the story is beautiful. You feel very proud to watch it.”
“I can’t speak for everyone, but that’s how I felt when I watched it,” she says, before nominating British actress Kate Beckinsale to play her should she ever appear in the series.
The royal praise must shock The Crown star Claire Foy, who told marie claire US that she didn’t expect the royal family to tune in.
“The reality for all of us is that we don’t think they’re going to watch it, really,” she said. “The chances are very, very slim.”
As Princess Eugenie no doubt knows, The Crown season two hits Netflix on December 8. Watch the trailer below:
