Body Found In Search For Missing Teenage Girl At Adelaide Beach

Four others were pulled from the water

UPDATE: The body of the teenage girl who went missing last night from Glenelg beach was found this morning.

Earlier, there were frantic efforts by police and surf lifesavers to find the girl after her four friends were saved at 5:50pm on Sunday night.

ORIGINAL: This morning, police are continuing searching for an Adelaide teen who has been missing for over 15 hours from Glenelg beach in South Australia.

On Sunday night at around 5.50pm, four teenagers were rescued by surf lifesavers after getting in trouble in the water, News.com.au reports.

But the dramatic rescue left police, helicopters and boats frantically searching for the group’s missing 17-year-old friend until dark.

“We just heard there were five kids and they rescued four but one was still missing,” 17-year-old Tahni Olofsson, who was helping with the search, told The Advertiser.

“They were hysterical. She [missing girl] could be anywhere right now, it’s hard to say when they’d give up the search.”

The rescued teens were treated by paramedics and taken to Royal Adelaide Hospital. A 17-year-old girl was in a critical condition and had to be given CPR by paramedics on the way.
