A 55-year-old mother was found dead at her home in Sydney’s south early this morning, just a day after Mother’s Day.
The woman’s body was discovered in her Sylvania house by her 28-year-old son, police say.
Her other 31-year-old son was arrested in St Peters this morning and a crossbow and other items were seized from his car. The man is currently helping police with enquiries.
Superintendent Michael O’Toole told media the younger son was “distraught” by the discovery.
“The younger fellow is very distraught by what happened. He is the one who came across the incident and called police to attend,” he said.
The Sydney Morning Heralds reports the woman was found wrapped in a blanket with a serious head injury and covered in blood.
Supt. O’Toole added that it was “too early to say” when the woman died and if the crossbow was involved.
