Jennifer Aniston didn’t walk the red carpet but she was on hand to present at today’s Oscars.
The actress took to the stage to introduce this year’s In Memoriam, which featured her friend, Bill Paxton, who died just yesterday due to complications from surgery.
“Tonight we take a moment to remember those we lost over the past year,” she announced to the auditorium.
“Whether they were a musical prince leading the revolution on a concert stage, or a movie princess leading a rebellion in a galaxy far, far away; a force of nature in front of the camera, or a force driving it, each and every one was a cherished member of our Hollywood family.
“As was beloved actor and friend, who left us just yesterday,” fighting back the tears, she continued, “Bill Paxton. Sorry. All were loved and all will be missed.”
Singer Sara Bareilles performed Joni Mitchell’s “Both Sides Now” during the emotional segment, which also honoured other stars we lost this year including Carrie Fisher, Debbie Reynolds, Mary Tyler Moore, Gene Wilder and many others in Hollywood that died this year.
