A jury has heard that Brenden Bennetts searched YouTube for the “best way to dispose of a body” before he allegedly killed Queensland schoolgirl Jayde Kendall.
Bennetts is currently on trial in the Brisbane Supreme Court for the murder of 16-year-old Kendall in 2015. As AAP reports, Bennetts, now 21, has pleaded guilty to manslaughter but denies he intended to cause the young girl’s death.
On Monday, a court heard that Bennetts—aged 18 at the time— searched YouTube on his phone about disposing a body a day before Kendall died.
However, police could not determine if the accused had opened or looked at any search results, the ABC reports.
The jury heard that the two teenagers crossed paths at McDonald’s and began texting on August 13.
Bennetts allegedly then picked Kendall up from school in Gatton in the Lockyer Valley on August 14 and is accused of killing the 16-year-old around two hours later.
Her body was discovered in long-grass in farmland near Gatton 13 days after she disappeared.
The trial continues.
