Netflix has finally dropped the trailer for the highly anticipated season five House of Cards, and it’s more disturbing than ever.
As a series of explosive scene sneak peeks play out, we hear that familiar, sinister Frank Underwood drawl on voiceover.
“The American people don’t know what’s best for them. I do. I know exactly what they need,” he says.
“They’re like little children, Claire. We have to hold their sticky fingers and wipe their filthy mouths. Teach them right from wrong. Tell them what to think, how to feel and what to want.”
Season five picks up where season four left off, with Underwood struggling to maintain a lead against his young Republican candidate rival, Governor Will Conway, in the Presidential election campaign.
House of Cards has always been terrifying, but given the current political climate in the US (*cough* Trump), it’s suddenly more chilling than ever.
Season five drops on Netflix on May 30.
