Game of Throne‘s made a spectacular return to our screens for the hit show’s eighth and final season.
17.4 million fans around the world tuned in at 11 am local time on April 15 to watch episode one, making GoT the biggest television show in history.
The Season 8 premiere did not disappoint. It was packed with so many moments that fans have been looking forward to for years. Jon Snow (Kit Harington) found out he was not, in fact, a bastard but secretly the Targaryen heir to the throne (he even rode a dragon!). We also got an emotional Stark siblings reunion, and Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) even arrived at Winterfell – with Bran greeting him at the gate!
However, Kit Harrington almost didn’t survive to see the final scenes, opening up about a very close call he had on set.
Harington said in a behind-the-scenes video that filming the scene was “not easy,” and he almost sustained a terrifying injury to his nether regions.
“There was a bit when Jon almost falls off the dragon, swings ’round really violently like this, and my right ball got trapped and I didn’t have time to say stop,” Harington said. “And I was being swung ’round. In my head, I thought, ‘This is how it ends, on this buck, swinging me ’round by my testicles. Literally.'”
Ouch.
