The last season of Game of Thrones is (sob) almost upon us, and while HBO works on various spin-off series – and we attempt to fill the void with other cult shows – fans are working their own magic: creating a trailer for a series set in modern day Westeros.
The clip shows the three great houses of Stark, Lannister and Targaryen decades on from their current war over the Iron Throne.
In fact, said Iron Throne now lives in a museum while children are shown reading fairy tales about the wars in the old days.
While Cersei, Jon and Daenerys’ lives have come to an end, their ancestors live on: a Lannister male is the prime minister of the country (residing in the capital, Kings Landing), someone with ice white Targaryen hair is shown doing drugs, and a dire wolf is following behind a Stark woman.
It looks like winter is almost, once again, upon the country, with war and rebellion in the air.
Oh, and those ridiculously scary white walkers? yep, they’re still hanging around.
The mysterious video, uploaded by a user named ‘Westeros the Series’, has already been viewed over 380,000 times, with fans saying they hope the dream becomes a reality.
“It took 1000 years since the last Long Night. It would be a pretty cool idea to set a show 1000 years later again for the next one,” one person commented.
“Fan made or not. the concept is amazing and has potential,” another wrote.
