More than 25 years on from the first Father of The Bride film, there are whisperings that another installment of the family favourite might be coming to our screens.
Actor George Newbern, who played Bryan MacKenzie in the films, and known for his work these days in Scandal, teased that the Father of the Bride creator was working on another.
“[Director] Charles Shyer wrote a script. I know there’s a script out there. And there’s talk,” Newbern told Us Weekly.
“I don’t know how far it got but I’m sure most of the cast would be into it if the script was right. So maybe that’s just a question of that happening.”
He continued: “I have heard some [concepts] and they are pretty far out there. From what I heard it was pretty good and different and newsworthy.”
The original 1991 film featured Steve Martin as an overprotective father who comes to terms with his daughter’s engagement. It also starred Diane Keaton, Kieran Culkin and Martin Short.
The film also inspired a sequel, Father of the Bride Part II, in 1995.
We have so many questions about the next film if it goes ahead, primarily: will Franck Eggelhoffer be back? (Here’s hoping.)
