Yesterday it was revealed the star had been cleared of child abuse allegations by the Department of Children and Family Services.
“It wasn’t clearly founded that there was any abuse by Pitt,” a source told Entertainment Tonight.
TMZ initially reported that the LA Police Department and LA County Department of Children and Family Services were investigating Brad Pitt concerning an alleged incident on a plane in which he was verbally and physically abusive to his children. Reports say that while he was drunk, “he allegedly went wild, screaming and getting physical with the kids.”
Angelina Jolie gave a statement to ET expressing relief that the investigation was over.
“The job of the DCFS is to make sure the children are in a safe and secure situation,” the statement read. “As we said earlier this week, childcare professionals encouraged a legal agreement accepted and signed by both sides that was in the best interest of the children. Angelina said from the beginning that she felt she had to take action for the health of the family and is relieved that after their 8-week involvement, the DCFS is now satisfied the safeguards are put in place that will allow the children to heal.”
The news comes soon after Angelina Jolie released a statement to PEOPLE revealing that their children will remain in her custody.
Brad Pitt made his first public appearance following the Angelina Jolie split, attending a screening of Moonlight where he was joined by Julia Roberts.
