Beyonce might on a high after announcing she is pregnant with twins and is set to perform at next week’s Grammy awards, but it seems she has found herself in a little hot water over her hit single, Formation.
It seems the track, from her acclaimed 2016 album Lemonade, sampled a voiceover from the late Anthony Barre, also known as Messy Mya a social media and YouTube star who was shot dead in 2010.
Barre’s family claim Beyonce used the snippet of his voice from the 2010 video “A 27-Piece Huh” without permission.

The Washington Post reports that the rapper’s estate is asking for $20 million in royalties and other damages.
An official statement reported on Post, Barré’s sister claims that Beyoncé used her brother’s, “voice, performance and words from his copyrighted works to create the tone, mood, setting and location of the New Orleans-themed ‘Formation’ video and audio recordings.”
Beyoncé is yet to make a comment on the matter.
