Running into your ex with their new partner can be excruciating at the best of times, let alone on the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art on one of fashion’s biggest nights.
But dressed in a slinky Alexander Wang catsuit, Bella Hadid took the encounter in her stride and has revealed she’s happy being single for a while.
“It’s like I’m finally getting to the point where I can just think about what I want to do and the places I want to go,” the fashion model told Grazia magazine. “I want to be as independent as possible and worry about myself rather than anyone else.”
The It-couple announced the end of their 18-month relationship in November last year. It was only a matter of time before Hadid crossed paths with The Weeknd, with both taking the stage at the 2017 Victoria’s Secret show, just a month after their break-up.
In February, the model and younger sister to Gigi told Teen Vogue her breakup with The Weeknd would be “hard for a while”.
“Love hurts, but you have to pull through. But I’ll always respect him, and I’ll always love him,” Hadid said.
“Sometimes you want to be sad about it or handle it differently, but at the end of the day, you never want to burn a bridge that you’ve fought so hard to build.”
The Weeknd—real name Abel Tesfaye— made a very public display of affection with new squeeze Selena Gomez at the Met Gala last week. Their relationship has continued to unfold in the public eye with Gomez bringing some of her family along to The Weeknd’s concert in Dallas, Texas, on Thursday, reports E! Online.
