In fashion search platform Lyst’s 2019 Year in Fashion Report named 38-year-old Markle the Internet’s most-searched-for “influencer” of 2019.

But as Harry and Meghan have stepped back as senior members of the royal family for a more private life in Canada, so too has their fashion influence.

Discount clothing website LovetheSales.com has analysed every outfit publicly worn by the Duchess of Sussex and the Duchess of Cambridge in 2019 and 2020, and today released a report confirming that Meghan’s influence on our wardrobes has taken a step back, while Kate’s influencer status is once again on the climbed.

Kate’s outfits now, on average, drive a 159 per cent increase in demand for specific products, while searches for Meghan’s looks have dropped to an average of just 31 per cent. The change in influence is perhaps due to Meghan’s diminished appearance in the public eye, while Kate has appeared at over 20 royal engagements.

That’s not to say that Kate’s influence has ever been underwhelming. In fact, ever since her inception into the royal family in 2011 – women all over the world have looked to her for fashion guidance.

“Kate is a global fashion phenomenon, cleverly juggling designer outfits we can all lust over with clothes we can pick up on the High Street,” said Claudia Joseph, author of How to Dress Like a Princess, via Vanity Fair

The mother-of-three’s influence is proven in none other than a community of followers, who call themselves the RepliKate’s. Mallory Bowling – Lady M RepliKates – is a Washington DC lawyer who has over 20,000 Instagram followers that tune in religiously to see how she is inspired by the duchess daily. Rachael Tagg, a photographer and teacher in New South Wales, and her friend Brooke Nurthen run Cambridge Mums, a royal fashion account with over 5,000 followers.
