You never know when you’re going to run into an ex. At the supermarket? Potentially. When your skin is glowing and your hair is freshly done? Never! When you’ve emerged from a particular sweaty HIIT class? Ding, Ding, Ding!
But if you’re a celebrity, there’s one date that you can guarantee you’ll run into a former fling: the first Monday in May.
The Met Gala might mark the opening of the Costume Institute’s annual exhibition, but it also signifies a time when tensions are high, and exes are abundant.
This year’s Met Gala was no exception, with a string of recent breakups and feuds meaning the outfits might be serving, but the looks could kill.
Here are the pairs we’ll be keeping our eyes on:
Rosalía & Jeremy Allen White

The pair were first spotted together in 2023, a few months after Rosalía ended her engagement to singer Rauw Alejandro and Allen’s wife, Addison Timlin, filed for divorce.
After being spotted all over LA together – including premiers, the farmers market, date nights and White carrying bouquets as Rosalía walked with a single flower in hand – the pair seemed to be going strong. Although they never confirmed their relationship.
Fast forward to 2024, on Rosalía’s birthday, Jeremy was reportedly ascent and then spotted kissing his The Bear co-star Molly Gordon.
Sabrina Carpenter & Barry Keoghan

Exactly a year after the couple hard-launched their relationship on the 2024 Met Gala red carpet, the pair arrived at this year’s event solo and as exes after dating for almost a year.
Carpenter might have warned Keoghan not to “embarrass me motherfucker” in her chart-topping song “Please, Please, Please’ and so far, the Saltburn actor appears to have kept his word after through a seemingly amicable split.
Cardi B & Nicki Minaj

The only thing worse than a divorce is a friendship breakup. For former friends Cardi B and Nicky Minaj, the beef has been simmering for a while.
In October 2017, Migos added Cardi B and Minaj to his song “Motorsport” and it was reported that the pair shot the scenes for the music video separately, which sparked speculation of tension between them. What followed was a string of lyrical disses, social media clapbacks and during a New York Fashion Week party one year. Here’s hoping this reunion is a civil one.
Bad Bunny & Kendall Jenner

Kendal Jenner didn’t have one, but two exes at this year’s Met Gala. Her most recent relationship with singer Bad Bunny ended last year in September. Meanwhile, Jenner’s former beau, A$AP Rocky, announced his third child with Rhianna as the pair arrived at this year’s event.
Nicole Scherzinger & Lewis Hamilton

After meeting at the MTV Awards in 2007, F1 driver Lewis Hamilton and singer Nicole Scherzinger have been in an on-again, off-again relationship for eight years before finally calling it quits in 2019.
Aimee Lou Wood & Walton Goggins

Following fierce internet speculation around their off-screen relationship, all eyes are on these former White Lotus co-stars tonight. The duo are reportedly following one another again on Instagram after eagle-eyed fans speculated over a feud following the shows finale when they disappeared from each other’s follower count. We’ll be watching Deux Moi and the TikTok lip reader closely to see if the actors cross paths during the event.
Priyanka Chopra & Shah Rukh Khan

Global fashion news outlets might be chomping at the bit to cover the Met Gala’s usual suspects: Rhianna, Zendaya and the Kardashian crew. But for Bollywood fans, all the attention was on Shah Rukh Khan, who made his Met Gala debut this year.
The event was made more significant by the fact Priyanka Chopra was also in attendance, who Khan is rumoured to have had an affair in the past.
Miley Cyrus and Patrick Schwarzenegger

All eyes might have been on Aimee Lou Wood and Walton Goggins, but there was another White Lotus star who is walking on eggshells at this year’s Met Gala: Patrick Schwarzenegger. The actor dated Miley Cyrus from 2013 to 2014. Why did the relationship end? Well, you only need to listen to Cyrus’ song ‘Baby Talk’ to take a guess.
