Dog Show Or Fashion Show? How About Both!

Dogs as models? It's a thing

Fashion week isn’t generally the time for exploring anything other than, well, fashion. But in order to stand out in 2019, designers are going to new and extreme lengths to ensure their collections are noticed by the world. Exhibit A: the Lela Rose fashion show in New York this week, which doubled as a dog show.

Confused? Let us explain. As a lover of dogs, designer Lela Rose took her autumn/winter ‘19/’20 presentation to better, cuter heights than ever before, enlisting a team of dogs to help get her message across.

With the stage set like a real dog show, models parading dogs (and clothes, but let’s be honest who was noticing those when there were labradors to be loved!) swished across the runway, each with a different breed in hand — picked to suit their outfit.

The audience were sat in bleachers surrounding the set-up and chic judges took score in even chicer notebooks. Contestants were announced via placard, with fake organisations like Cocktail Companion Group and Paws For Intermission competing for the top prize.

Call us dog people, but this is surely the best show of the week so far?
