A few years ago, we could only dream about some of the treatments and skincare products available today. Now, we are looking for non- invasive procedures with minimal downtime as well as skincare that delivers results.
To keep up with the very latest, I go to as many educational clinical conferences as possible. I recently attended a conference by ASCPD (the Australian Society of Cosmetic Procedural Dermatologists), which was chock-full of amazing new arrivals. I have handpicked the ones that got me really excited.
EMFACE
Firstly, EMFACE has just introduced its EMFACE Eyes applicator for treating under the eyes. This was always a problematic area of the face to treat because of the fine texture of the under-eye skin. It now makes three different applicators that are available to treat the full face and neck as well.
EMFACE is a hands-free treatment that requires four clinic visits of 20 minutes each, once a week for a month. The results are amazing, simultaneously treating muscle and skin using radiofrequency and HIFES TM. energy to revitalise areas of the face.
EMFACE Eyes improves the overall look of the face and smooths the appearance of fine lines. It is recommended that the EMFACE treatment is repeated every 12 months to maintain the result. There is little downtime post-treatment.
This treatment is available in-clinic only and the product is not available for sale to the general public.
UltraClear Laser-Coring
Next was UltraClear Laser-Coring, offering laser and fractionating rejuvenation using 3D MIRACL and 3D IntelliPulse technology. This technology gives greater efficacy and improved safety in this laser device.
It provides a fast, comprehensive solution to multiple skin concerns through to supporting collagen production. It can administer a light laser peel with almost no downtime, or help to revitalise and rejuvenate the look of the complexion with a longer downtime for a more damaged skin.
The treatment, which takes up to 30 minutes, was recently awarded Best Non-Surgical Treatment for Younger Looking Skin by New Beauty Awards.
This treatment is available in-clinic only and the product is not available for sale to the general public.

Rejuran
Rejuran Skin Boosters was another cutting-edge piece of technology on display. It is a micro-needling treatment that enhances skin rejuvenation. It combines polynucleotide (PN) with micro-needling techniques to promote skin rejuvenation.
PN is derived from wild salmon DNA and is able to increase collagen production and skin elasticity. It helps to improve the appearance of fine lines, uneven skin tone and acne scarring. There is some downtime depending on the level of damage being treated.
This treatment is available in-clinic only and the product is not available for sale to the general public.

Why You Still Need Skincare
You may be thinking, well I don’t need active skincare if I use these amazing treatments. Wrong. One of the guest speakers at the conference was Dr Frank Lin, a cosmetic plastic surgeon from Melbourne. He has two clinics but his EST clinic offers only skincare and non-surgical treatments.
According to Dr Lin, healthy skin is the foundation of all aesthetic treatment, surgical and non-surgical. “There is little doubt that high-quality professional-grade skincare elevates all treatment modalities,” he says, which is why the skincare brand SkinCeuticals is his EST clinic’s skincare partner.
Every one of Lin’s patients receives a comprehensive skincare program specifically tailored to their skin’s needs to support their cosmetic enhancement journey, through the treatment process, recovery and beyond.
Skinceuticals
At the conference, SkinCeuticals introduced its latest offering, HA Intensifier Multi-Glycan, a serum targeting volumising and plumping. To address the appearance of fine lines, it contains 1.3% pure hyaluronic acid and 12% proxylane, which is a sugar protein hybrid. The skin looks plumped and rehydrated for 24 hours after application.
Hyaluronic acid is one of those wonder ingredients that is found naturally in many areas of the body, including the skin. It is often referred to as a water magnet for its apparent ability to draw moisture into it. HA Intensifier Multi-Glycan is free of parabens and fragrance and can be used by all skin types.
Alastin Skincare
Alastin Skincare, the skincare brand in the Galderma Cosmetic enhancement treatment family, was also introduced at the conference. It’s a small range of daily restorative skincare and post-cosmetic enhancement treatment products. There are only six products in the bespoke range, which is based on a multi-blend of peptides using Tri-Hex technology.

Serums are best used at night and any other moisturisers and creams should be used on top. Serums generally have a smaller molecular structure so are absorbed much more effectively into the skin.
As the skin experiences a full thickness skin regrowth every six to 12 months, for best results use your skincare regularly for long enough to see an improvement. Using a skincare product for a month and then stopping will never give you the full benefits.
Make sure that you have a consult with a cosmetic enhancement clinician rather than deciding what treatment and products you like. This way you will be given the right treatment and skincare plan.
