Dyson Has Just Released Their Newest Hair Gadget

And you're going to love it even more than your hair dryer

We know, we know: just when you’d saved up your spending money for the Dyson Supersonic hair dryer, they’ve gone and released a shiny new hair product to covet – and this one does so much more than simply dry your hair.

In fact, not only does the new Dyson AirWrap™ styler dry your hair, it also gives impressively bouncy curls, natural waves and a smooth finish, depending on which of its multiple attachments you use. And unlike conventional curling tools, you don’t need to fuss about wrapping sections of your hair around the wand – the Dyson does that all by itself.

Here it is in action:

See? No hands (apart from the one holding the styler, that is). Using jets of air, this clever tool is capable of picking up your hair and whizzing it around the wand for a voluminous, foolproof curl – all without the need for either extreme heat or professional-level dexterity.

Case in point: I tried it (under the direction of acclaimed hair stylist Peter Thomsen, but still) and managed a full head of bouncy, brushed-out curls all by myself on the first go. I’m not even going to tell you how long it took me to master the conventional curling wand I have at home (hint: an embarrassingly long time). This, on the other hand, was surprisingly easy – and my hair never got tangled around the barrel.

Six years in the making, the Dyson Airwrap styler comes with eight attachments (including four of the barrels used in the videos above), a (very powerful) pre-styling dryer, soft smoothing brush, firm smoothing brush and round volumising brush. The various tools are designed for different hair types, curl size and curl direction (direct away from the face for the most flattering finish).

Now for the bad news. At $699 a pop, the Dyson Airwrap styler doesn’t exactly come cheap – but if you calculate how much you’ll save on styling appointments (and consider just how bouncy your waves and curls will be…), you might just find it’s worth it.
