The Prince and Princess of Wales have released their Christmas card for 2024 and it’s a stunning departure from that of previous years.
Kate and Wills shared the card—which has already been sent out to recipients—via their official Instagram page sending well-wishes this holiday season to the wider public.
Instead of posting the still photograph, the Prince and Princess opted to edit the image into a virtual card caressed by falling snow.
The couple kept their Christmas message short and sweet, captioning the post: “Wishing everyone a very happy Christmas ?”
The photograph of the family, including their three children, Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, six, should look familiar to royal watchers.
Not a new photograph like we’ve seen in previous years, Kate and Will opted to repurpose a still from the video shared back in September which marked the end of the Princess’ chemotherapy treatment.
The beautiful image is somewhat of a departure from traditional Christmas cards, showing the family relaxed, laughing and closer than ever, during their August trip to Norfolk.
“Life as you know it can change in an instant,” she said in the video shared on September 9, “And we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown.”
She went on to say: ““With humility, it also brings you face to face with your own vulnerabilities in a way you have never considered before, and with that, a new perspective on everything.”
Last year’s Christmas card, which portrayed the family all dressing in jeans and white button-down shirts against a plain photoshoot backdrop was met with photoshop controversy. A far more rigid and formal picture, however edited, is, if anything, a reflection of how far the family has come this year.
